Allen Burlingame

 

Allen Dale Burlingame, 44, of Amarillo died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007.

 

Celebration of life services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with Lawrence V. Whicker III officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Allen was born June 4, 1963, in Des Plains, Ill., and was raised in Illinois. He met the love of his life, Bessie Canales, in Amarillo, where he had been residing for the past 36 years. The two became one on Nov. 1, 2006.

While living in Amarillo, Allen worked for Roto Rooter for 15 years and recently at the Wal-Mart on Grand Street. He was a jack-of-all-trades and enjoyed any work involving his hands. Allen always took others into consideration before himself. His compassionate heart and wonderful sense of humor were things that left an impression on many lives. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Burlingame.

Survivors left to cherish his memories include his wife, Bessie Burlingame; two sons, Blake Burlingame and Christopher Canales, both of Amarillo; two daughters, Ashley Burlingame and Christina Canales, both of Amarillo; his mother, Sandra Burlingame of Amarillo; his grandmother, Violet Johnson of Waukegan, Ill.; a sister, Vicki Vibbard of Amarillo; and a cousin, Joanne Maxey of Waukegan.
